Agreed: we KNOW what a particular award is worth - not sure what to do with that information, but I know if a writer quotes some particular awards, that writer is either ignorant, desperate, or inflating like crazy.

Awards that come with a stellar, literate review are better than those that seem just plain luck or bought or participation trophies: the quality of the reviews reflects the value of the award.

I expect readers, especially mine, to eventually notice whether the QUALITY of the works matches the promotions. Fool me once,... Otherwise there is no point in me aiming for quality. I expect my readers to expect me to work for them. And I expect MY readers to enjoy the kinds of details that are hard work to produce.
