I'm more of a "pantser" than I am a plotter. If I do anything concerning plot, I'd have to say it's "mini-plotting." But I only do that when I write something long--like a book. I plot a basic idea of where I want the story to go, and put a note on the bottom of the page reminding myself as to what I want to happen to progress the story forward. And in order to keep my own interest from lagging, I always ask myself one question. "What if?" What if such-and-such happens? How is it going to reflect on the character? My plots are never "locked in place." I always leave a little wiggle room for the "what if" question, but I always try to resolve the issue of the little notes I leave myself...such as, don't forget there's a gun in the room; what is the "secret" so-and-so is hiding? It keeps the story going, while allowing me the freedom to explore the character.
