Excellent article. I've been dealing with smoke from wildfires most of my life. Now that I've settled back in South Central Oregon I'm once again realizing how bad it can be. Owning an air purifier isn't a luxury. As a young person my crew and I would work outside (landscaping and lawn maintenance) wearing masks and go home with said masks soot black. Imagine what our lungs looked like? I hope the cost of this leads to better ideas on management. I don't think there was any conspiracy. I do think the way forest management was handled was a reflection of what was thought best at the time. Well, times, they are a changing, and I hope our management practices are too.

Thanks. I agree with the forest management choices being a product of their era. Change is happening...but will it be fast enough?

I was watching the news last night, up here in Vancouver, and they said there were 85 wildfires burning in the Province. Doesn't look like it's going to be a good summer for any of us.

No. It's worrisome.
